Review, edit and export takeoffs on mobile

Review saved plans in the native viewer, or open the embedded web workspace to measure, edit and export when your app and permissions allow.

Before you start

Check the active business, takeoff access and app update before starting. Editing requires an online connection, a compatible app build and permission to edit takeoffs; Field access does not grant editing. Have the correct drawing revision and a known dimension ready for calibration.

Plan eligibility, business features, permissions and device support still apply. Reading a guide does not grant access.

Step by step

  1. Open Takeoffs from the available app navigation or the job/quote takeoff section. Select the intended saved takeoff.
  2. Check the plan identity and page before reviewing its image. Compare the listed measurement labels, values and units with the scope you are checking on site.
  3. Review each page rather than assuming that one visible plan includes every sheet. The measurement list remains important when an annotation cannot be drawn over the page.
  4. Inspect material quantities and units and, where your access permits, the displayed totals. A quantity alone does not verify the material specification or supplier price.
  5. To create or edit when permitted, choose Open workspace · create or edit takeoffs from Takeoffs, or Edit in workspace on a saved takeoff. The app opens the web editor inside the app; the separate native viewer remains read-only.
  6. In the workspace, upload or select the intended plan, check its page and units, and calibrate against a known dimension before measuring. Select a markup, then tap Actions for its available commands. Review measurements and mapped material quantities before pricing.
  7. Use File → Save before Close workspace. Closing does not promise an automatic save. Reopen the saved takeoff and confirm the revision, measurements and units; a failed or interrupted editor restores only the last saved version.
  8. For a file, use the available File export action: PDF, CSV, pack or editable backup. Follow the device share or save sheet and check the resulting file. Closing that sheet is not confirmation that a file was saved, sent or delivered.
  9. After creating or opening a quote from the editor, Open quote in app takes you to that existing quote for review when permitted. Keep editing stays in the workspace. Check the original quote before starting another; this handoff does not automatically send it.

Worked example

An authorised office estimator reviews a saved garage slab on site, opens Edit in workspace to correct its boundary, checks calibration and units, then saves. They reopen the takeoff to verify the change and review an exported PDF before choosing whether to share it.

This is an illustrative scenario, not a customer testimonial.

Check the result

Confirm the saved drawing revision, page, quantity and unit after reopening. Check an exported file itself, not just a closed share sheet. Review the existing quote and its prices before any separate send action.

Limits and troubleshooting

  • The native takeoff viewer is read-only; editing uses the separate embedded web workspace. If workspace controls are missing, check permissions, connectivity and the installed app update. An older or incompatible build can keep the viewer; use the authorised browser workspace when needed.
  • When you are signed in to the app, the workspace opens without asking for your account App Lock PIN a second time. Any App Lock PIN or biometrics on your phone may still be required before the app itself opens. Leaving Takeoff for other web pages can still show the account App Lock screen; to change that PIN, sign into the website and open Settings → Security → Manage 2FA → App Lock → Change PIN (/settings/2fa#applock). For a connection error, reconnect and retry. If the editor says the session ended, because it expired, you signed out or your access changed, close the workspace and open it again from the app, signing in again if asked. Changing or resetting a PIN does not restore an ended session.
  • Unavailable images or an offline placeholder do not mean the plan was deleted. Reconnect and refresh; do not infer a correct overlay position from a missing annotation. Compare the measurement list with the source drawing.
  • If the editor closes or loses access, use Open saved workspace again only in the intended authorised business. Unsaved changes may be lost. Do not switch businesses or sign out while relying on unsaved work.
  • File sharing must be available on the device. Exports over 64 MB, expired files or changed account access are refused; prepare an eligible export again from the correct business. An app export is not an automatic email or customer delivery.
  • Related screenshots show the web interface, not native device captures. The embedded editor does not add 3D or AQAI access; existing plan, feature and role requirements still apply.
